DESCRIPTION:

MEIDONG MD 501 is a light brown liquid derived from Cashew Nut Shell Liquid (CNSL). It is known as Cardanol or Cashew Phenol. The structural changes of Cardanol could be effected at the hydroxyl group, on the aromatic ring and on the side chain. Cardanol's chemical structure contributes flexibility, chemical resistance, adhesion and greater hydrocarbon tolerance in the resins prepared from it. The special properties make Cardanol an effective substitute for the petroleum-based Phenol.

APPLICATION:

MD 501 Cardanol is used in surface coatings, epoxy, varnishes, paints, printing inks, phenolic resins, rubber compounding, lacquers, laminates, friction materials, and adhesives.

Friction Dust made from cashew nut shell liquid can be used in metallic, semi-metallic, non-asbestos organic (NAO) and asbestos formulations for brake linings, disc pads, clutch facings and brake blocks. And it improves wear and fade resistance, decomposing at various elevated temperatures thereby providing good flexibility and thermal stability in friction materials.

Cashew modified phenolic liquid resins are used in various friction material applications like brake blocks, disc pads, brake linings, clutch facings.

STORAGE/STABILITY:

All containers of MD 501 should be kept tightly closed when not in use and stored in a cool and dry place. These products have a shelf life of 5 years when kept properly.
